Destination Inspirations

Friday, December 24th, 2010

For a great site on Destination Weddings, visit Destination Inspirations who recently featured Lucie and Matt’s Wedding held earlier this year…. it was truly stunning!

“Bermuda, Bahama come on pretty mama, Key Largo, Montego baby why don’t we go” Yes that’s right, the Beach Boys. For some reason that’s all I could sing in my head when I looked through Lucille and Matt’s absolutely gorgeous Bermuda destination wedding.

I would give anything to be there right now. After you see these pictures I am sure you will agree. The venue was the Tuckers Point Hotel and really its just a jaw dropping location. Taken by super talented Sacha Blackburne, these images just radiate elegance.

Elegant and full of the details we all love to hear about. So if your planning a Bermuda destination wedding here are your experts,

Welcome to Bermuda Bride

Saturday, December 11th, 2010

Planning a destination wedding can feel a little overwhelming but hopefully you’ll find our new site to be a wealth of information. Here’s a quick overview of what each area offers!

Explore “Confetti”  to see brides’ testimonials and their wedding photos from the many Bermuda weddings we’ve planned.  By using the tags and the search field, find the perfect location. Be prepared to have your breath taken away by images of Bermuda’s pink sandy beaches. You can almost feel the cool grains of sand give way underfoot. Or simply take in the panoramic ocean views with our cliff top settings.  Discover the many varieties of the most fabulous bouquets created by our award winning company, Petals. See different accents that have made a couple’s wedding day personal and unique.

In “What’s New”  we share wedding trends, keep you up to date with great articles and tips and read what’s in the press about Bermuda Bride.  Our “B.Log” offers images from a recent or favourite wedding or news from a Bermuda Bride.

“Creating Memories” features our favourite image of the day – use it for inspiration,  stimulate your imagination with ideas and concepts on colour, see different photographic styles or just share.

Over the past ten years, we have worked with some amazing people, from floral designers, event designers, marriage officials, photographers, taxi drivers and musicians to name a few. Through these relationships, we are able to bring you the very best Bermuda has to offer – all creating a simple, elegant, stress free wedding.  And, by planning your wedding and understanding your priorities, we get to know what’s truly important for your wedding day.

Couples really loved our old site – it was often one of the first things they told me as to why they contacted Bermuda Bride: It was wonderful, elegant, and timeless. For me, it was like a favourite pair of soft, familiar sweat pants, borrowed from a boyfriend, complete with saggy bottom. So it’s been a bitter sweet experience to create a new  site. But I am fond of saying “where there’s change, there’s opportunity”.  However I have included the wedding album in “Elements of A Special Day”.

I intend to embrace my commitment to our new ‘home’ with generosity of information, phenomenal possibilities, laughter, humour and passion.

I have been incredibly lucky to form many wonderful friendships through planning weddings.  This site is dedicated to everyone in my team who has supported me, all of the people I work with who make your day and Bermuda Bride happen: to Craig – our web designer – who explores every one of my ideas and continues to think that most everything I say is funny. To my pups, Maddie and Jakob who began this journey with me and who get schlepped to work each day; If not for them, Bermuda Bride would not exist as they were the reason I became a wedding planner. To the men in my life who know beneath that cool business exterior underneath I am the ultimate optimist and hopeless romantic. But most importantly, to all of you who continue to believe in love and have trusted me and my team at Bermuda Bride with your wedding day – thank you for not settling for anything less than wonderful!

What happens if it rains?

Friday, December 10th, 2010

One of the most stressful parts in planning an outdoor destination wedding is wondering if it will rain on your wedding day. We wish we knew, but we don’t, instead we do the next best thing – we plan for every contingency.  One of the best things about the island is that summer showers quickly pass over, you can actually watch it happen. It can also be raining at one end of the island but not the other.

We know you’re passionate about getting married outside. After all that’s why you’ve come to Bermuda. So we make an informed decision: If it looks like the rain has settled in for the afternoon, we go with the new PLAN A which we chat about during the planning process. And if it looks like a brief shower, we stay with the original location but delay the ceremony by a few minutes. If you’ve had to go to the back up plan, and if time permits, we’ll head to the nearest beach or cliff so you do get photographs outside. It is your wedding day in Bermuda after all!
