Janel and Walter’s Bermuda Wedding

Monday, July 25th, 2011

Hi Lara,

I wanted to thank you for all your help. I was nervous trying to plan a wedding from so far away, but everything turned out better than I imagined. I loved the cake, flowers, arch, etc. Everything looked just like in the images you sent beforehand. Amanda just posted some of the photos on her blog and they look great. Everything about the wedding was awesome. We’re already talking about coming back in a few years to renew our vows!

How to be a good wedding guest

Tuesday, July 19th, 2011

Great to see an article in June’s issue of allure magazine outlining one of the moments in life “when people still crave etiquette advice and then actually heed it”.  Covering what to wear and why you cannot bring a guest unless invited to do so, it is well worth reading so you do not commit any further wedding guest faux pas!

Lee and Brian’s Bermuda Wedding

Tuesday, July 19th, 2011

Just wanted to send you a quick note to say THANK YOU.  Everything was perfect, the flowers, the photographer, the minister, the bagpiper, the venue and even the rain. Everyone was so impressed with the way Lara handled the situation.  Amanda was awesome and very patient. Our family can be kind of crazy at times but she was lovely. I can’t wait to see her photos!!

We asked the taxi driver to stop at Horseshoe bay on our way back and he was kind enough to do so. He was so kind and so much fun!!! I wasn’t about to let the rain spoil my special day….so we all ran and jumped into the ocean. Everyone on the beach loved that I went into the ocean in my dress….everyone was taking photos of us. We all had a wonderful time.

Brian and I thank you so much for putting everything together.  It was the most PERFECT day! I would recommend Bermuda Bride to anyone!!

If I had to do it all over….I wouldn’t change one thing!

THANK YOU – THANK YOU – THANK YOU sooooo much for ALL your help!! Fantastic Service!!!

Words from a Native American Wedding Ceremony

Monday, July 18th, 2011

May the sun bring you new energies by day,

May the moon softly restore you by night,

May the rain wash away any worries you may have,

And the breeze blow new strength into your being,

And then, all the days of your life,

May you walk gently through the world,

and know its beauty and yours.

Anon.

Should you hire a planner? USA Today on Planning a Bermuda Wedding

Tuesday, July 12th, 2011

It was great to see that Bermuda is getting such fabulous coverage in USA Today on planning a Destination Wedding in Bermuda – we  are tickled pink by the response and enquiries.

Some quick corrections however:

Step 3 – We don’t actually have a/any Justice of the Peace – it’s the Registrar or the Assistant Registrar that performs the ceremony in the Registry office.

Step 6 – The cost of a marriage licence is $300 and the cost of a marriage certificate is $30. Not $243 as reported.

Perhaps Step 1 should be “hire a wedding planner!”

Donna and Joe’s Bermuda Wedding

Monday, July 4th, 2011

Hi Nikki,

We want to thank you so very much for your fantastic handling of the details for this very casual bride and groom.  We were really pleased with Rev. Stone and Amanda Temple.  Rev. Stone made us feel like he knew us long before the minute before the wedding and he provided the right amount of spirituality for us.  The joy he has in officiating weddings was obvious and contagious.  Amanda was equally fabulous and we genuinely liked her.  We cannot wait to see her magic in our wedding photos.

I still can’t believe we found someone as fantastic as you on the internet! I will recommend Bermuda Brides to everyone I know.  Maybe some day Joe and I will come back to you for a vow renewal service :)

I will let you know when we receive the marriage certificate and the photos so you will know the loop is closed :)

Gratefully and Sincerely,

Donna and Joe (Reiss)

Champagne anyone?

Friday, July 1st, 2011

One of the best perks of my job as a wedding planner is being invited to try something new: In this case, to be “one of the first in Bermuda to experience the champagne offered by Armand de Brignac, also known as “Ace of Spades”.  Initially, I was very skeptical – I am hard core and loyal to Billecart Salmon Rose, so it was going to take something quite remarkable to sway me to the other side.

In preparation for the tasting, I read as much as I could find – In all honesty, I had never heard of the stuff. I looked up the website, read the blurb (and the hype) and reluctantly my interest was piqued:

~ In a blind taste test of 1,000 Champagnes, Armand de Brignac was ranked number one (and that was before anyone saw the bottle and boy, do you need to see the bottle).

~ Armand de Brignac is certainly a relative newcomer to the champagne industry and the steep price tag makes this a very deliberate choice. With diverse clients from the well-heeled to the hip hop crowd (including Jay-Z, whom some would argue put Armand de Brignac on the map), or those out for a night on the town wanting to celebrate with something quite eye catching (and not just their date), Armand de Brignac’s market certainly has mass appeal.

But what makes this champagne so special? Could it be that it is produced in limited quantities through a traditional, entirely handmade method by a staff of only eight people with father and son select the grapes? Or is it that the packaging which, for better or worse, is so dang eye catching?

~ Jancis Robinson, one of the world’s most famous wine critics offered her thoughts. And after reading her review, I was hooked. I had to try it for myself.  Yes, I’ll come!

At the tasting, I had an opportunity to chat to Brian Berish, Managing Partner of Sovereign Brands. (His black business card with gold embossed font feels like old leather from the back seat of a Jaguar.)  His patter was just as smooth but after I have to say, I was waiting for proof.  As tight, tight bubbles rose in the narrow flute releasing complex but gentle floral notes, my sense took over, I couldn’t wait. My first sip of the Brut Gold, which deliberately lingered in my mouth, offered a  full, sexy, creamy taste with great depth and long finish.  Wow! I loved it.

I once asked what was served best with pizza and surprisingly the answer was champagne. A bottle of the Brut Gold is arriving this afternoon. After an evening of being courted with exceptional cheeses and fun conversation and then out to dinner at Harry’s, I think a quiet night in sounds perfect – With pizza delivery on speed dial, I know exactly what I am going to have with it!
